Bribery works

So, it looks like bribery works.

I’ve been shortlisted as a finalist in the MAD Blog Awards 2011. Yes, me. Yours truly. I know, I can’t believe it either.

This ‘ere blog (excuse the excited Bristolian twang emerging there) is among five finalists in the Best MAD Baby Blog category. Perhaps it’s the deceptively cute pictures of Frog that did it. Or the occasional rant about motherhood. Or maybe you felt sorry for me after I wet my pants in public. Whatever it was, I’m very grateful, really I am.

But this also means I now have to reveal something I’d hoped to put behind me forever. You see, I did promise to share a story with you if I was nominated. It involves firemen, a bath and me. Naked. (This was in my pre-Frog days, when flashing my bits at total strangers was still a novelty.)

And while I’m pleased to see I’m quite good at bribery (a skill I’m sure I’ll need in my future parenting endeavours) I’m also a little scared. I’m a woman of my word though, so if this is something you actually want to hear then I’ll oblige. Just tell me now so I can get it over and done with.

Back to the MAD Blog Awards then. There are fifteen categories, with some amazing blogs in each category. I’m stunned to be included and am now just waiting for the clerical error to be rectified and my name withdrawn. (If this happens, though, I want it noted that the fireman story stays buried forever.)
